A Power of Attorney is a deed giving a trusted friend/relative authority to sign any papers that you are unable to deal with eg by reason of absence, ill health or injury.

It is wise to have such a deed in place “in reserve”. When preparing a Will for a client we discuss this scheme.

Such a deed is not for ever and can normally be changed or cancelled as your circumstances change.

It is important that the correct document is used and that you set out clearly the limits of the authority you are giving. Please make an appointment to come in to discuss your situation
